The books main aim is to support children and young people with a learning disability or autism when planning hospital visits.

This has been a huge success and won the Patient Safety Learning Disability Initiative of the Year Award 2021

Healthcare cards

To support the book there is a free Makaton Going to Hospital – Healthcare Cards. You can access these at www.makaton.org Once logged in you can go to:

To use this you print on both sides so that the cards have symbol and front and sign of the back and can be used as communication aids

The Healthcare Prompt cards

Healthcare Prompt cards Launched in #LDWeek2018 were winners of the Student Nursing Times Award. This resource was the innovative idea of Eve, Emily and Alice – Student Learning Disability Nurses from Edge Hill University. And were inspired by our very own Alice Glennon!

The Learning Disability Pledge

During #LDWeek19 we launched the Learning Disability (LD) Pledge for all Healthcare workers to make in supporting patients with Learning Disabilities
